Corporate Technologies: Supplier Readiness Program
 The Supplier Readiness Program is designed to help your company enter the global automotive industry supply chain. The program provides:
- an expert assessment of your ability to successfully participate in initial supplier reviews with vehicle manufacturers and upper tier customers;
- and identifies necessary improvements in your quality processes and documentation system.
Vehicle manufactures and upper tier companies are often willing to assist potential low cost suppliers by providing training and technical advice once a low-cost prototype has been produced. Yet, low cost is not sufficient. Potential supply companies must also demonstrate that they have the engineering competencies and organizational capabilities to meet minimal quality and documentation requirements.
The program helps focus your efforts on the minimally required product quality planning and parts approval processes; the Advanced Quality Product Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) as utilized by the multinational vehicle manufacturers and upper tier companies in selecting suppliers. If you are preparing for an initial supplier review, SAE International's experts will walk you and your engineering team through the process in order to ensure that your preparations will meet all requirements. In addition, you will be provided with an action plan and recommendations outlining the steps your company must take to meet global supplier requirements.
In September 2007, SAE and CATARC conducted an informational seminar on this program at the Shanghai Industrial Auto City. The following companies attended the seminar titled "Global Supplier Requirements—The Global Automotive Supply Chain."
